When is Rockmelon Season in Australia?

Rockmelons are in season year-round in Australia, with peak supply in summer.

Rockmelons (Cucumis melo) take 10 to 14 weeks from sowing to harvest and need a long, warm to hot season. Honeybee pollination is essential. Bee Aware notes that fruit set without insects is effectively zero, and WA Waroona growers report managed hives can lift yields by up to 40%. In the NT's Top End, planting is year-round though NT DAF notes dry-season fruit is consistently superior. Southern growers sow from September and finish harvesting by autumn. Fruit is picked at "full slip", when the stem separates cleanly from the melon, the surest indicator that the fruit has fully matured rather than being cut early.
